DIY Cleaner Storage

I did this awhile back, but as I have been de-cluttering our home and organizing like crazy, I have come to appreciate this idea even more!  This DIY will get your household cleaners out of the cabinet {increasing cabinet storage} and out of reach for your crawlers and toddlers.  Just take a cheap door hanging fabric shoe rack and put it on your pantry/kitchen door.  It frees up space, saves the worries of little ones getting into it, and everything you clean with is at a glance!  No searching for the pledge anymore 😉

I Dominated Today With 1 Coupon

Today, I woke up feeling… AWAKE for once!  I had energy and the motivation to go with it.  That motivation took me to my computer where I printed off one simple coupon that led me to saving about $75  in one stop.  The coupon was only {and I use only lightly} 40% off from Hobby Lobby but this coupon got me out of my house.  I saw sunlight, I breathed fresh air, I got dressed, I… was unchained from the bindings from this house! 🙂  All kidding aside, I got to use a gift card that I received for Christmas combined with this coupon to total over $100 stuff for $9 from my pocket.  I’ll call that a WIN 🙂

This one coupon also got me back on the printing coupons online kick, again.  To coupon effectively, though, you need to be aware of your retailers rules and regulations when it comes to coupons.  You can find a good list here.  Just scroll down to find the list of retailers and click on the appropriate one.

Once you have the rules down, it’s time to print!  Here are some good coupon printing sites:

  • Target Coupons – Note these are NOT manufacturer coupons, so they will stack with any manufacturer coupons you have.
  • Coupons.Com – Loads of manufacturer coupons
  • SmartSource – Loads of even more manufacturer coupons
  • CVS – While these aren’t necessarily printable coupons, CVS has the best deals for ‘bang for you buck’.  It also has the most lenient couponing rules, as they allow you to use a BOGO Free coupon on their BOGO deals to get both items free, in example.  That paired with CVS bucks and you are getting back what you spend.

I also added a new page ‘Printables‘ to my blog, under the ‘Resources’ tab!  There you will find more printable jewels for living, crafting, budgeting, and more!

If you have any couponing advise or additional places for online printing, let me know!

Thee Domesticated Journey

One of the greatest goals of any wife and/or mother is to become the end all be all mom.  A lot of people call this person ‘domesticated’, and as the end of school closes in, my urge to become a better the end all be all grows!  I have more time now to think about all of the little details and oil this machine we call home.

Now, being the ‘perfect’ wife/mother is not in my definition of the end all be all domesticated lady..  Nobody can be the perfect wife or mother.  Nobody can be the perfect anything for that matter.  My goal is to keep this machine {home} well oiled.  What do I mean by well oiled: clean, organized, debt free, fed, and most of all… HAPPY!

My main areas for concentration needed are being clean, organized, and fed.  I need to find ways to fit in laundry for a family of four while keeping every room clean, in the midst of 2 toddlers running around.  I need to find a way to get on a ‘dinner plan’, so we don’t buy unnecessary groceries and we don’t have things to throw away in the fridge.  I NEED to find a way for every room to be ORGANIZED, for my SANITY!

On this journey, I have been researching things that work for others and tweaking them to fit my family.  There are a plethora of resources available for those on the same journey as I.  Websites, books, shows, and the list goes on.  So I know I’m not alone!  As I find these golden nuggets of precious ideas, I will share my findings in hopes that someone out there as desperate as I am will find some golden nuggets of their own.

If you have any bits of precious secrets to keeping your machine oiled, please, let me know!

What Can Be Done Without PURPOSE?

One thing I have learned and I swear by, in order to accomplish anything you desire, you need to have a purpose.

Point blank.

Everything that I’ve been through has proved this to me, time and time again.

As I lay in bed thinking my last thoughts of the night {before I go through another restless night of terrible ‘sleep’}, I thought up this little sentence: if at first you don’t succeed, find your purpose, and try again.

To me, there is nothing impossible to accomplish when you are aware of your purpose. Whether it’s family, self, or dreams, if you have a reason to get up every day trying again eventually you will reach the day where you don’t have to try again because you succeeded. It’s all about the drive {purpose} that takes you.

Goals don’t get you to the finish line, goals ARE what’s waiting at the finish line. Purpose gets you to the goal!

Radio Silence

It has been a couple of weeks since I have had the time to sit down and gather some thoughts, let alone post said thoughts. I have a lot to catch up on.. Since my last post we have taken the girls to the pumpkin patch for the first time, taken the girls trick-or-treating for the first time, had a friend visit from out of state for a week, and I’ve had a handful of exams.

It’s better late than never, right?

We took the girls to this neat little pumpkin patch outside of town. It was an extremely cold and windy day, but the girls were so excited that it didn’t even phase them. I was able to get some really good pictures! I’m so excited that they have reached the age to enjoy things like this and be able to participate.   Here are some pictures to share my joy:

The girls have been OBSESSED with The Wizard of Oz  movie for weeks now, so this was just priceless!

I just loved this ‘how tall this fall’ board.  I hope that they have that each year to keep a little timeline going.

She was so proud that she could pick up the little  pumpkin and carry it, that she tried to pick up a HUGE pumpkin, too!

These girls are so extremely independent.. about everything.  They wanted to pull the wagon on their own, and they pulled that thing all the way to the checkout!

The girls leaving the patch!  We had a fantastic time, filled with smiles.  My only regret was not being able to be in the pictures with them.  I never think about that until it’s over.. the job of a mother: holding the camera.  I just can’t wait for the next trip to a pumpkin patch!!

This was on a day where I had a pile of homework to get done before the next day, we had a family get together, and the house needed cleaned badly.  I thought how am I going to get all of this done if I take them there.. then I realized that there was a memory to be made, which is what I live for, making memories with my family.  Everything that needs done will eventually find its way to being done.  Memories can’t be done, unless you make time for them to happen
